The month of August comes with the UNWTO. What is the UNWTO?
The World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) is the United Nations agency
responsible for the promotion of responsible, sustainable and
universally accessible tourism. Zambia and Zimbabwe proposed to jointly host the 20th Session of the
United Nations World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) General Assembly in
their two border towns, namely, Livingstone, and Victoria Falls,
respectively from
24th to 29th August, 2013 - The two host towns are located around one of
the seven natural wonders of the world – The mighty Victoria Falls.

Zambia, my country is
one of the most beautiful, exotic, diverse and unique destinations in
the world. Zambia with its varied tapestry of landscapes,
has something for every traveler, be it business, Conferences,
adventure, wildlife, culture, accommodation, entertainment, cuisine etc; one can most definately encounter the warmth and spirit of the African people..and the warmth of our mother land (sunny days).
UNWTO encourages the implementation of the Global Code of Ethics for
Tourism, to maximize tourism’s socio-economic contribution while
minimizing its possible negative impacts, and is committed to promoting
tourism as an instrument in achieving the
United Nations Millennium
Development Goals (MDGs), geared towards reducing poverty and fostering
sustainable development. UNWTO generates market knowledge, promotes competitive and
sustainable tourism policies and instruments, fosters tourism education
and training, and works to make tourism an effective tool for
development through technical assistance projects in over 100 countries
around the world.
UNWTO’s membership includes 155 countries, 6 Associate Members and
over 400 Affiliate Members representing the private sector, educational
institutions, tourism associations and local tourism authorities.It is the most important meeting of senior tourism officials and
high-level representatives of the private sector from all over the
world. Am I attending it? Unfortunately..not but of course will definately stay abreast of whats happening in Livingstone town.
